I disagree. I still believe it is the 481. The Truckstop is the Gunsmoke stop and the picture is in front of the very building the picture hangs in. I wish someone could swing by and see it to report what it is exactly, as it has been two years since I saw it.
And I do know the difference between a 36 and a 37. This is why is had me puzzled, I knew the 491 went north and it was too old a pic to be the exchange of 486 499.
A friend of mine worked for a heavy trucking outfit and has told me that he moved engines from Durango to Denver and back however not seeing or reading any info on this I never gave it much thought till I saw this picture. So now how about this question. Did the D&RGW send the 28s up to Denver to have major work performed on them?
I know the DRGW had passenger cars trucked up to Denver for overhauls so why wouldnt they send locos up as well?
