Mike,
If memory serves me....which sometimes now it does not....there were 2 flat top baggage cars in Rico. Both were the same era as the one at Vance, now at the CRRM. Those cars were in rough condition, but still restorable. The outfit cars were the heart breaker. They were all there except the trucks. When Bob Shank jr found out I was going to get those cars, he confessed he had dug a hole under the one outfit cars, crawled under it, and took the triple valve off the air tank. He used it for the restoration of caboose 0524. He offered to find me a replacement, but as it turned out, I didn't need it. I did not get any parts off the cars. I was so sad that everything was "gone" that I just walked away. Back in the late 70's you could still go to Floyde Reed's scrap your outside of Alamosa, and get a pick-up load of scarp parts for $100.00. I had plenty of parts to restore the 5 cars I had....so like I said, I let the Rico cars go. They had been crushed and burned and a lot of the metal had ben taken, so it really was not worth it.
