Built in 1879, the little 2-6-0 "Mogul" type was turned out by the Baldwin Locomotive Works, construction number 4562, and was delivered to the Utah & Northern carrying the number 13. She later joined the roster of the Nevada Short Line as their number 1, and finished her working career on the Nevada Central Railroad as their number 6. The combine she is coupled to is even older, having been built by Carter Brothers in 1874 for the Monterey & Salinas Valley, though most of her career was spent on the Nevada Central Railroad. In 1938 the exposition acquired four pieces of equipment for the pageant, all from the Nevada Central Railroad, and a quick overhaul and paint job got them somewhat functional for their stage debut.

When the show ended in 1940, the equipment was donated to the Pacific Coast Chapter of the Railway & Locomotive Historical Society, and while they languished for decades, they can now be found beautifully refurbished and on display at the California State Railroad Museum in Sacramento, California.

I brought this up as an idea since we, again, don't have any actual pieces of equipment saved at all, unless you count the decrepit remains of #3's stack at the CRRM. It would be nice to have something more of this railroad be remembered at a museum, such as CRRM, and have something that can have physical ties to the Gilpin, even if it's just a new build of one of the ore cars.

Does anyone have photos of it from before the repaint? I’m trying to model the headlight with its pinstriping, but none of the scenes in Denver & Rio Grande show it clearly enough. If I’m remembering right, the locomotives in the movie also had their numbers painted on with the pinstriping.

The American Tool Company lathe is big. 18" faceplate and 100" from spindle to bed end. Has faceplate, 4 jaw and 3 jaw chucks, 6" steady rest, taillstock, and other accessories. Should be big enough to machine an axle. Appears in good condition. The person I acquired it from stated it was running but they did not need it.

Caboose stove was used by previous owner as a trash heater. Mostly S.P.Co casting numbers with the feet being CP.

Pedestal grinder started to lose power. Unknown if this is motor or switch issue but we no longer needed to use it. Its big and if you need face grinding a nice tool to have.

The generator set is WW2 surplus, then Fire department surplus. has a Willys motor which was rebuilt 30-40 years ago and not run since. We never used it.

Located near Portland Oregon. I have a forklift to load items if there are any takers.

The historic photo is out of the book "The Iron Horse come to the Klondike" by Eric L. Johnson. Facinating read, but the way. I do appreciate that a Mr. J. Robinson measured and drew this one in 1974. If I get the motivation, I'll get my own tape out and measure the hardware on it.

This is what the one in Skagway looks like as of two seasons ago when I first came up. It's condition hasn't changed much since then. Another thing to note is that the castings on this flat have no evidence of origin. Initials and part numbers are nowhere to be found. Again, I'll look harder next time I'm over there.
