They Are rioting in Silver Plume,  There's strife in George-town;
The merchants are all crying doom . . . 'Cause the Loop's broken down!

The forums are festering with unhappy folks:
The Goats hate the Lilies, the Lilies hate the Goats,
Every-one hates polly-tish-uns, and lie-yers and such;
We Curmudgeons don't like anybody very much.

But we all should be tranquil and thankful these days –
To have Histœric new Diseasels instead of old Shays . . .
But our wish, it is certain — for both Behrens and Bell:
Someone will blow the whistle . . . and they will get to share a cell!

They are rioting in Silver Plume,  There's strife in George-town;
What used to be a Tourist Boom . . . Has been trashed . . .  by a  . . .  pair of  . . .   CLOWNS!!

The above is based on the Kingston Trio's late 1950's hit version of Sheldon Harnick's 'Merry (Little) Minuet'.
("Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose" — more or less):
