I remember shooting the rotary on day 2 in 1991 where it goes below the road between Cumbres Loop and Apache Canyon Road. It was the last bit of snow before a long bare spot, and after the train went by Kathi and I noticed the side of the hill was on fire. She climbed down and I up from track level to put it out while the Rotary train highballed through the non-snow area. Not much up there to worry about burning really.
Chris did all the fire stomping on the 1993 charter that last afternoon near Lobato. Remember Atkinson couldn't get our 12 car train started on the grade, and had to back up further to do our runby on the west side of Lake Lobato. Lots of slipping we couldn't see! Another great outing from Snakebit Enterprises,eh!
