Dear Steffen Rosmus,
You seemed knowledgeable of the area and wonder what you or anyone in the list can say about the old Standard Fruit RR (Vaccaro Ry) that at last count was 277 KM of 914mm (3') running east of La Ceiba, Honduras. I want to confirm what happened to Shay #3193 which at one time ran in Rockhill Furnace,Pa home of the East Broad Top and was up for sale in 1966. Late rumor had it offered to be dumped for free on a East Coast Port by Dole Fruit co, if someone would care for it. Was it ever scrapped and when, or is it in the railroad museum at La Ceiba? Is any of this railroad running container trains, or just the open cars about the town of La Ceiba? Is there a wealth of old three foot gauge equipment still there to sell or was it all washed into the Gulf of Mexico by the hurricane?
Enough with old politics of the war in Gua. Stay with trains. Any fruit railroads left? PRR
