Re: Locomotive #83 at Knott's

Hello! I was an operator of the 83 during the early 1980's. The engine number came from the year it was placed in service, 1983. It is a 2' gauge Crown and runs on propane. It has a chain-driven air compressor for the truck-style air brakes (air and spring) and is a real joy to run. I really liked hookin' er up on the backstretch. She'd really get a movin'!! Piece of trivia--the coach numbers were from retied California Street cable cars that used to run around the KBF parking lot! Good to hear that there's some interest in these Crowns.
