I had the recent privilege of thumbing through a copy of Mexican Narrow Gauge by Best, and came up with a surprising number of references to 2-foot gauge operations. I presume he saw these or their remains in the early 1960s.
Meanwhile, I have been trying to track down nice engines for use at Phillips, ME, as well as S. Carver, MA. There are some possibilities here and there, but nothing seems to be panning out. The prospects of getting one or two 2' Baldwin 2-6-0s or Forneys seems to be a wild dream, but does anyone know about these following operations?
-Tatela Railroad, 5 miles north of Matamoros-Izucar.
-Compania LaPrimavera, State of Sinaloa, at Novalato near the Pacific Ocean. Perhaps also at Culiacan.
-F.C. de Hornos.
-Cazadero La Torre & Tepetongo.
-Quintana Roo Railways, in the towns of Felipe Carrillo Puerto and Vigia Chico.
Thanks for any information and/or ideas...
