Les Jarrett sent me 2 records last year. Volumes 4 and 6 of "The rattle and The Roar". Copyright 1978 Trainmaster records of Manitou Springs. Produced by Micheal Dillon, Recording Engineer C.M. Edmonds.
Volime 4 is a 78 RPM record recorded in 1970/1971 (Record Copyright 1978) of sounds of the first trip of 483 on The Cumbres and Toltec in 1970, and an excursion behind 484 in 1971. Volume 6 I suspect is the same recording as the one I got from Bo last year. It was recorded in the cab of 483, on that first run from Antonito to Chama.
In order to listen to it I had to go to Radio Shack and order a turntable.
I have finally gotten around to playing it and re-recording it.
Talk about goose-bumps!
As I write this I'm recording it into MPA format so I can put it on a CD.
BUT. I'd really like to find the people who made this record. I would like to sell copies of it to benefit the 483 fund, but I don't want to steal it.
Does anybody know these people and whether thay are still alive and would mind letting us sell this tape for a benefit?
Listen to the audio clip below. I still have work to do on the balance, so there is no whistle, but listen to that engine!
