D&SNG pleases its Durango neighbors!

Last week, the Durango Herald ran two articles about the smoke problem in Durango. The first ran on the 17th:
Train to keep using wood pellets -Locomotive fuel for overnight idling reduces smoke

This article reports that the D&SNG "now burns about 1,000 pounds of wood pellets every night in each of the four locomotives it keeps "hot," or ready to run the next morning. The pellets are manufactured by Muscanell Millworks Inc. of Cortez and cost more than twice as much as coal."

The article also quotes south Durango resident Jessey Tase as saying "I think it's great. It has helped a lot with the smell. It's a much less offensive smoke, and it doesn't seem as strong."

The next day, the paper ran an editorial:
Cutting emissions - D&SNG acting like a good neighbor
This editorial notes that Al Harper is making $1 million available over 5 years to reduce emissions.

All I have to add is: thumbs up D&SNG!
