ET&WNC restoration

March 07, 2001 10:34PM
The ET&WNC Railroad (Tweetsie) is preparing for its first operation of the season on March 17th. The operation is for a private wedding party. Since the re-opening of 1 1/2 miles on the RR on Oct 16, 2000 there has been a voluteer group of about 8-10 working every Saturday since January. This winter Six Flags over Georgia donated 3 passenger coaches which are ex-D&RGW. They are currently being rebuilt. These cars will operate behind the former Opryland 2-4-4 #2. The cars will not operate until late summer. The engine will continue to pull trains consisting of motor car trailer until they are ready. If any would like to see the ET&WNC line we are going to be running some trips on April 7th as a fund raiser for the RR. If anyone wants to ride contact me. The operating portion of the ET&WNC is located in Hampton, Tennessee on the property of Doe River Gorge Ministries. There is some info on the ET&WNC restoration and history of the railroad at www.et-wnc.com .
