new book on ET&WNC (Tweetsie)

March 04, 2001 12:10AM
A new book written by ET&WNC historian Johnny Graybeal titled "Along the ET&WNC" was just published this week. The book is the first volume in a series on the railroad line. The book features the history of the early ET&WNC and Linville River Rwy locomotives. There are alot of unpublish photos of ET eng's #1-3, also many others of #4-7 and the #28. There is also a section on paint schemes and modeling. Although there is nothing in the book about the famous ET 4-6-0's. That is to be covered in volume 2. I highly recommend this to anyone that enjoys reading about locomotives or works on locomotives.
Iam an Engineer on both the ET&WNC and Tweetsie RR's and this is best historical information on the ET&WNC locomotives since "Tweetsie Country."
The book is being published by Tar Heel press in Hickory, NC. The cost is $29.95. I will try to get a phone number if anyone might be interested. I think they also have a website. It is www.tarheelpress.com
