I remember that trip well. It was a helluva lot of fun!!! I truly thought you had planted that spike there just to get me excited. Frank Stapleton and I railfanned the H&H in 2000 or 2001 from the north end down down to La Madera. There were miles of grade that were in great shape and would be fun exploring again. The canyon we explored in 1995 was nearly impassable in anything except 4wd and even then it was dicey. I'd bet that today it might be impossible to get up the canyon in anything but a dirt bike (the locals don;t seem too interested in road improvements...)
