At this time the locomotive about 87-90% done. We had a minor setback as the tapered bolts that hold the crosshead guides would not stay in place, so new ones of those need to be made. I am progressing slowly on piping up the cab, and presently forming and annealing the red brass pipe for the live steam connections. The new grate bearers are almost ready to go in after some work is done on them in Denver. Then we can install our brand-new Economy fire door, which we had cast up for the locomotive. Master Mechanic front end pieces are being made. Of course, we wait and wait for specialty parts for the brakes, sanders, eccentrics, etc. Target date for finishing this long project is before Memorial Day and no later than June 15. Serious negotiations have started with both railroads, and operating dates are to be announced. When 315 runs again, it will be the first C-class engine to run system miles since #268 participated in scrapping the Gunnison lines in 1955.
