Thanks to those who have already signed the Letter of Support. We are just about ready to send the proposal to the Tuolumne Economic Development Authority next week and will present the signatures along with our proposal. So here is your last chance to sign it if you haven't already.
Thanks Again for everyone's support!
***Reminder*** It does not cost anything to sign the letter. After clicking 'sign' your name is added. If asked for a dontation, it is not for the preservation efforts, its for the company hosting the letter.

I have been working for the past few years to save the remaining structures of the West Side Lumber Company located in Tuolumne, CA. I've met with the tribe twice, the most recent meeting was with the Tuolumne Economic Development Authority(run by the tribe) last September. We discussed the possibility of rebuilding the structures and turning them into a Museum. They were open to the idea of a Museum and agreed that the current buildings would have to be completely rebuilt. The other problem was that they had a golf course going through those buildings. They were already planning on taking them down, and replacing them with some false fronts for display on the golf course. To make a long story short, they expressed their interest in preserving the WS, they know how it played an important role in the history of the town.
However, the current proposal was not going to work. They asked me to
come back with another proposal, which does not interfere with the
golf course plans and an organized group. So I came up with a new
proposal and a group consisting of Ed Sieckert, Art Kauppi, Glen Tyra
and myself to help move this forward. This new proposal calls for a
structure to be built at a different location, one which does not
interfere with the current plans of the Tribe. It would also use some
parts of the existing structures, such as siding material. Inside, it
will house WS equipment as well as other logging equipment, including
a few of the steam donkeys on the mill property.
We are currently working with the Tuolumne City Memorial Museum, and
the Tuolumne Economic Development Authority. I think the history of WS
deserves one more chance. Their is no group/organization to join yet,
for now I've created a Letter of Support which I'm hoping you will all
sign. This will only strengthen our position and it will show just how
many people are interested in seeing WS preserved.
If you support this idea you can click on the following link and add
your name online or you can visit my website and sign it there. Also
be sure to pass this along to others, the more signatures the better.
