United Verde & Pacific Map - NG *LINK*

My latest map follows the grade of the 3' UV&P from Jerome Junction on the west end to Jerome on the east. The grade parallels the SG Santa Fe, Prescott and Pacific at JJ where freight was transfered between the two. The grade then makes a sharp curve to the east and passes through a wye. After that there is a long tangent through Lonesome Valley before heading up into the hills.
After drawing this it gave me an appreciation for how sharp the curves were on this line. Sharper than anything I have drawn to date. Up in the hills the line was relocated in many spots to bypass trestles with fill and culvert. I tried to draw the original route as much as possible. The forest road rides the grade for much of the trip.
When I drove the grade a few years ago the former trestle footings were very evident. Local rock was used to build these footings and still remains today.
See if you can spot the mystery cut along the line. It is close to the first relocation on the west end of the line.
Note that I drew in an approxiamtion of the grade on the east end. The mining activity has wiped out traces of the grade in this area. I based it upon a crude map in a book that I have.
The information that I have on this line is based upon "Verde Valley Railroads" by Russell Wahmann. I picked it up in a shop in Jerome and it has a nice mile by mile guide starting from the west end of the line.
