Andy, my little Scottie woke me up at 6:00 AM. It was dark, cold, and we discovered another 14" had fallen over night. I managed to pull my parka on over my sweats, pulled on my boots and shoveled a small walk way out to the back patio for Andy to drain his tank.
Drifts in the back yard are averaging five feet with some over six. This must look like the Swiss Alps to a Scottie.
ALL interstate highways are closed at Denver, and all commercial vehicles now must be chained up, including buses. Light rail still running on limited service. DIA still closed with 4700 stranded there. TV pictures from remote cameras around Denver interstate highways show NO vehicles except for an occasional snow plow.
Out my front door, the huge green belt has an average of 30" on the level, and the drift in front of my town home is a little over 40".
Snow is not very wet, but packed in drifts like concrete.
It's gonna be a looooong day...but clearing here by mid afternoon. Praise GOD we still have electrical power.
It's been a storm for the record books. Somebody said over the radio that..."God always answer prayers...and too many people were praying for a White Christmas" Well...those prayers were answered..BIG TIME! Merry Christmas from snow-bound Denver.
