SV articulateds in Guatemala

There was some discussion of how well the 2-6-6-2s fared after losing their tanks on the SV. I can't speak for that road, but on the IRCA in Guatemala, the pair were tested on both Atlantic & Pacific Division before finding a home in Escuintla and mostly working a mixed local that operated between Mazatenango & Escuintla. Both Ben Turtin, Mechanical Supt. and Jose Pineda, Road Foreman Engines told me that 250/251 were only modest performers, especially given the extra maintenance required of them.
An example of tonnage ratings between them & the 150 series Mikados which were somewhat of a modern K-27:
Buena Vista to Mazatenango
150 250/251
380 tons 475 tons
Santa Maria to Escuintla
150 250/251
273 tons 336 tons
Escuintla to Palin (16 miles of 3.6%)
150 250/251
200 tons 250 tons
Length of engine on the IRCA was 71' 8 1/4", coupler to coupler.
Railroad claimed 32,416.7 lbs on each axle for a total of 194,500 lbs. on the drivers. This info from EMP TT 23.
