Re: Help on El Dorado Lime & Mineral

Andy- Sorry I missed you.
Empire City/Standard Lumber had a three foot operation at South Fork Mill. Thats where the El Dorado Lime and Mineral shay came from.
Went reconnoitering today. This place is locked up tight as Area 51. Access from the south is through a locked gated community. From the east there are no roads that even come close as far as I can find. From the north, the main entrance to the quarry has a huge locked gate across the road bout a mile, mile and a half from the quarry. Got to the top of every surrounding hill but no view of anything. Even hiked down part of the Placerville Branch to a very good view into the canyon and couldn't see a thing. Very disappointing.
I did get to explore the siding at Dugan which is south of Bullard. Not much there.
A note through email places the junction just railroad east of Bullard. Also possibly a second shay used.
I have much more to explore now but if anybody has anything else...
Thanks!
John
