Narrow Guage in Oklahoma?

February 02, 2001 05:16AM
Thought I'd post this on our way out the door to the hospital (my wife is ready for this baby to make her grand appearance in this world). Does anyone know about any narrow guage operations in the southern regions of Oklahoma? The area in question is in the Oauchita Mountains, very rugged country, with lots of timber. Surely at some point in time, there have been some lumber companies down there that must have laid down some trackage. I've also been told that one of the main line RR's (KCS?) had some coal mines down there and that they may have had some narrow guage 0-4-0's there. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!
