On Saturday, September 2, 2006, LaPorte County Historical Steam Society (LCHSS) plans to re-dedicate New Mexico Lumber Co. 7, 3-truck Shay (Lima 3345 / 1929), 3' gauge, a woodburner. This locomotive was restored to operating condition at LCHSS circa 1975. On May 29, 1985, it was involved in a fire which burned-down the LCHSS enginehouse. For most of the years since 1985, this locomotive was stored unserviceable, awaiting repairs.
Repairs to New Mexico Lumber Co. 7 were initiated approximately 5 years ago. Repairs to this locomotive are now complete. LCHSS plans to rededicate her at 13:00 on Saturday, September 2, 2006, and operate her about the museum grounds for the remainder of the 2006 Labor Day weekend.
The following steam locomotives are also planned to be operated during the 2006 Labor Day weekend:
• Deutsche Reichsbahn 99.3361, 0-8-0 (Orenstein & Koppel 13200 / 1938), ex-Mecklenburg-Pommersche Schmalspurbahn, 60 cm gauge.
• (not lettered), 0-4-0ST (Kolben-Danek 1930 / 1941), 60 cm gauge
