"In November of 1936, at Marcia, Tom Wilcox had taken the place of the regular night hostler who had gone hunting. Heisler #3 blew up and its boiler went approximately one hundred feet in the air and across an arroyo near the engine house. Wilcox, also blown into the air, fell through the porch on Ernest Roger's house. Vernon Pretty, manager of Southwestern Lumber Company, rushed him to the hospital in Alamagordo where he died the next evening."
