Gentlemen, Can any one help with questions as to where the water tank was at Franklin Jct. of the Boston Coal & Fuel/Calumet F.Co? The BC&F originally received water from Durango by a D&RG watercar ($5) until March 17, 1902, when they likely built their tank near Franklin Jct. Until the end of the line, a water car was in every trip and many round trips were made on the branch to just take more water up to the mine and town. The Valuation in 1919 shows the size of the tank, as seen in "Sunset on RGS II" p.105.
Q2: When was the Triangle mine built? See page 186 same book. Was the mine and spurs off the Calumet branch active before the branch was torn up in 1926? If the mine came later, did the mine rebuild the trackage over part of the old BC&F grade? One photo, labeled c1950 seem to show new timber of the lower tramway cable tower being built. Any reply desired for use in "RGS Story IX" Thanks, Geo
