D&RGW Snow plows

Hi gang. I'm a new guy here. I've been a narrow gauge nut ever since 1973 when our family rode both the Durango & Silverton, and the Cumbres & Toltec. My main interests are Southwestern Colorado narrow gauge. I grew up in Montrose and we did a lot of traveling in D&RGW and RGS territory.
But, enough about me. I have a question about snow plows. I've studied every picture I can find, but I can't figure out how they were attached to the locomotives. Were they attached right over the pilot? Or, did the pilot and pilot beam have to be removed? Did the plow have its own pilot beam installed?
