I don't know if major reBUILD is the right description. I don't know how much of the wood of the structure and the interior was replaced and how much was refinished.
I have not dug out my slides. But the interior looked very nice and I recall that the car was straight and felt solid when it was walked through.
Yesterday, I went through my spotty back issue file of "Short and Narrow Rails" looking for a photo article on the car that I recalled. Did not find that. But I did find that in issues #28 (no date, but probably 1992) there was a write up about the Huckleberry including a roster.
The roster lists the Kimball car as #8 (its NPC number). I recall seeing and photographing the number "8" inside over the end door.
As far as the amount of work done to the car body, maybe Marty Walker of the Huckleberry can enlighten us. We see him from time to time on the ng discussion board.
