Last week a group of us charted a photo special on the Strasburg Rail Road. Steve Weaver, our conductor, had seen the recent discussion here on Wheel Reports, and created the form in Excel to fill out by hand. Since we have not only the wheel report but also a photo of the train, I decided to post it here (apologies, Sas, for the standard-gauge content, but it is sorta Colorado). It's hard to make out the car numbers, but you can definitely make out the road names. (And yes, that time is correct: we left Strasburg at 6:45 each day. Well, the train did. The first day was rainy, and the photographers slept in, but the crew decided to follow the schedule.)
It's quite something to board a caboose and find a crew cooking a meal and coffee on the stove, then one hands you the Wheel Report. Quite a time machine.
Thanks, Steve, for taking the time to do this.
(Ted Krumreich, you'll have to plan one of your weeks around a photo special in the future.)
