Ye ask. And Ye, shall Receive…..
Now to explain a little about what you’re looking at...
This IS, Cripple Creek…..VIRGINIA! Around 1918, these are the iron ore mines of the, Virginia Iron Coal & Coke Co. They had furnaces, offices, mines, locomotive services, and tipples all in this small area.
The ore was “trans-loaded” into gons, and hoppers on the Norfolk and Western Railroad, I have done extensive research into this area. And the how the N&W and the V.I.C&C Co narrow gauge interacted. Their where, many many miles of NG lines winding their way around down here. I have tons of material and photographs from Virginia’s iron industry and the present condition of these areas today.
