I visited the new Edaville last July and say much that was good. There was a lot of money being spent on Mary Elizabeth #21 (now in steam) new tourist cars, new buildings, standard gauge displays ( steam and Diesel) assorted other items like a Carousel but its still Edaville.
Not many organizations come back from the dead. This one is sitting in the gray area between tourist railroad and museum. B&SR #7 is still there and a couple of other Maine cars. Most of the historic equipment is back up in Maine, where it should be. For example, the WW&F#10 ex W&Q #3 is back on home rails. I am a member of the WW&F museum and they are doing good work.
Edaville is a good place to bring a family. It is
a bit like Thomas the Tank Engine; not a real railroad but a good place to get children and new-comers thinking that way. Yes, steam is back and so is the traditional light show. There is very likely more to see in 2001 and 2002. they say that Edaville is in the middle of a 3 year project. Go Visit! Have Fun!
