In some recent posts discussing the D&C/CC&N #10 railbus, a comment was made that the railbus returned to California from "somewhere in the southeast". That "somewhere" was on the old ET&WNC section of track through the Doe River Gorge.
Unfortunately it left before I arrived on the scene and we started replacing ties. If it had not been sold (by folks who didn't understand its value), I am sure that by now it would be operating during the summer on a daily basis hauling campers and other passengers up the gorge, resplendent in ET&WNC green with gold and white trim! It would have fit in well with the camp's oerations. Anyone know of a spare 3' gauge railbus/Galloping Goose?!
You may have read on this board about Rachel's sojourn at the gorge, and subsequent removal to Grapevine, Texas where it currently sits doing nothing! We currently use an 8-ton Plymouth to pull the train of two open cars (cut down ex-D&RG boxcars), and recently received an eSpeeder (environmentally advanced, stainless steel & aluminum battery driven speeder!). We are also regauging & rebuilding a Fairmont A-4.
