The info on the A&NM/PD cars is welcome. It seems to come in bits and pieces.
The History of Arizona's Clifton-Morenci Mining District - A Personal Approach is in two volumes:
Vol 1-The Underground Days and Vol II-The Era of Mining by Open Pit. Publisher is Mining History, P. O. Box 1319, Thatcher, AZ 85552.
Vol I is $24.95 plus $4.50 shipping.
Vol II is $29.95 plus $4.50 shipping.
The two-volume set is $49.95 plus $4.50 shipping.
Buy both volumes. There is plenty of railroading for anyone. Although a bit episodic, being divided into articles based on material appearing in various PD journals, the work is well-researched and written. The photos are great on all three gauges of railroad in the district, as well as the towns and cable incline railroads. Both authors are or were PD employess and had access to many older employees to fill out the stories. All in all, these books are the very best sort of local history.
