Knott's parent company, Cedar Fair LP, has 36" gauge steam at two of it's other parks. Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio, has a roster of six locomotives. At least three or four of them are operational at any one time. They are Vulcan tank locos converted to 2-4-0 tender locos. There is also a Davenport Mogul laid up needing frame work, another Davenport they just got in a swap with Disney. The latter was traded for a diminutitive 2-4-4t Forney that has not been used much of late.(It's very similar to DRR #3) There is also a Porter 2-4-0 laid up needing boiler work.
They also own Worlds of Fun in Kansas City. There they operate a nice looking and sounding Crown 4-4-0.
So you see Cedar Fair has a history of running steam, dating back to the mid 1960's when Cedar Point was revitalized.
