Baby Berkshires-NG *LINK* *PIC*

They posted a link to this on RYPN, and since I had been to SA I enjoyed it and hope you all do too. The class 24 was built mainly for branchline work in South Africa. They still run them regularly on the George-Knysna line I think.
They would always take extra care with these engines, and most had names, and even ornaments. One engine we saw had a brass ornaments and a propeller on the smokebox door. Of course not all engines in SA were this spotless, but most that had regular drivers were kept pretty darn clean.
This particular 24 class (2-8-4, thus the Baby Berkshire title) appears to be on a special out of the Capetown area. This is where most of the heritage stuff is that was running. Apparently much of that is about to cease from what I hear. South Africa railways are just a shadow of their former selves! Ah, it was a great place for steam even in the 1980's though!!
Gauge is 3 foot 6 inch by the way.
