Another good Garratt reference is the book "Articulated Locomotives" By Lionel Wiener. Originally published in 1930 it was republished in 1970 by Kalmbach. You may be able to find copies out among the book sellers.
Perhaps the most beautifully produced RR book I own is "The Great Steam Trek" by Jorgensen and Lewis. Lots of Garratts, in color, running in regular service in South Africa - along with many other SA steamers (including some 2' gauge).
A good companion to the book is the video tape South African Garratts, which I believe is still available from "Machines of Iron" videos. This tape is evenly split between SA standard gauge (42") and narrow gauge (2') machines and as the name implies - is pretty much "all-Garratt".
Hope this helps,
Glenn
