No the gauge is correct. There are several ex Carbon Limestone locos currently in service, among them #4 on the CP&LE at Cedar Point, and the two on the LK&P on Maui,Hawaii. They are catalog stock Porters. The tires were just placed an inch out further on the centers. When they were restored for their current service the tires were heated up and pushed in. As to why Carbon Limestone chose that gauge, I've not heard a realistic reason so far.
