Re: Snow Fighting on the Durango & Silverton

I've gotta say, seeing a 1925 vintage steam locomotive and modern bulldozer in use together to clear snow is pretty cool. How many other railroads STILL use steam to power snow clearing trains, out of necessity to clear the line?
Not many - things still really haven't changed that much from the days of the D&RGW, at least in some respects.
Take some time this coming season to go out and see steam railroading; to enjoy it for what it is - living history. Enjoy it while you can, for it may not be around forever.
I propose a toast to a busy, profitable, and enjoyable 2005 season for all of the steam railroads across the nation and world (specifically the Colorado narrow gauge lines!)
