B&G 100 Coach-Observation
The car was rumored to be from one of the Rio Grande Western Subsidiaries here in Utah.
The B&G apparently used it for trips on the B&G Main line from Bingham Canyon to Magna, but it was also used a Pit Crew Shift Change Car (picked up the old crew and dropped of the new crews at the shovels and pit trains).
The car was used solely as a Pit Crew Trip Car after 1941, and when the trucks were replaced with the old ore car trucks is unknown.
The oil lights were replaced with electric lights and likely drew power from the electric pit motors used to pull the ore trains and Pit Crew Shift Trains.
SDRM apparently used the trucks under one of theur freight cars, but the ore trucks were friction bearing bettendorf trucks with I believe 1920's markings.
Kennecott Copper used the car until it was donated to the Son's of the Utah Pioneers in about 1957, and was displayed in Salt lake City and Then to the Museum in Corinne, Utah.
In 1981 all of the Corinne Museum was moved to Heber City Utah and included as a part of the Heber Creeper Railroad Operation a a part of the Timpanogas Preservation Society (Museum).
The car was displayed in Heber City from 1981 to 1991, when it was sold to the SDRM or Poway.
The Deer Creek Scenic Railroad (operator of the Heber Creeper Railroad from 1983 to 1985) restored the car for use in the movie "Red Fury"
and is available in some Walmarts in the Discount Movie Basket (DVD) and in VHS.
The car interior is in great shape, but some of the exterior will need to be covered soon as while at Corinne someone sand blasted the ages exterior walls and along with the damge that the movers did.
The Baker heater was used when it was used as a pit car.
One rumor years ago had it that it had come from the Copper River and Northwestern Railroad in Alaska, but it was unverified.
