I am pretty sure the Huckleberry RR owns it free and clear. After all ,it is their only "native" engine (Michigan). With the deal is a brand-new(1940) boiler shell that was never installed , as the Q&TL closed in 1941 . Changing boilers is a huge and expensive job , and the HRR has its hands full overhauling 464 .
An interesting note about the Q&TL is that this short road on the Upper Peninsula was not scrapped out till the 1980s .It sat quite a while as the cars basically fell apart around their wheelsets. Two or three engines were still on the property but after decades of abandonment , none were close to operable . Smebody more knowlegeable on this obscure road might have some better facts for you . Being one of a precious few Brooks locomotives anywhere , it is sure deserving of restoration , but philanthropic funding for historic preservation has really dried up in recent years , and the competition is fierce for what little money is available .
