Salida Mail, Jan. 7, 1930: "Fifty men are now employed at the Burton limerock quarry at Monarch, according to Warren E. Burton, who was a Salida visitor yesterday.
The quarry is shipping a trainload of rock each day to Pueblo. This is giving employment to additional train crews."
