Re: North Durango Yards questions

I sometimes wonder why I take so many photos of railroads over and over again.
Then I think back to my shock when I first came back to Durango in 1991 after having been gone since 1967. And at seeing Alamosa in 1999 for the first time since 1966. Sad to think that all that is left of the Alamosa shops is "ALA" stenciled on car bodies around the west.
Someday I am going to dig through my dad's boxes and find the photos he and I took around the D&RGW when I was a kid in the 60's.
Remembering those mixed guage freights running from Antonito to Alamosa, standard guage boxes in front, narrow guage stock cars on the rear...trying to get my dad to slow down so I could photo the idler car.
Time marches on indeed.
