Kenny,
The only one of the original Maine Two Footers to survive into 1944 was the Monson RR. According to the book "Two Feet to the Quarries" by Robert C. Jones, the Monson was scrapped beginning in December 1943. According to Roger A. Whitney's book, "The Monson Railroad" the scrapping process was completed in 1944 (probably Jan or Feb).
A small two foot gauge industrial line affiliated with the S.D. Warren plant in Westbrook, Maine lasted until a somewhat later date, possibly the date you mention. (Sorry, I don't have the date handy.) It was out of service by 1950 and was not a common carrier at any time in its existence. (Hence, most people don't consider it a *real* Maine Two Footer).
Hope this helps.
Best Regards,
Glenn
