Some data on the 2-8-0s

September 03, 2004 12:41PM
According to Gerald Best, the International Rys of Central America’s roster of January 1960 listed the following data on the #40, #44 and the #111.
#40
-Built in 1920
-38 “ drivers
-16 x 20 cylinders
-wt 93,400 lbs
#44
-Built in 1921
-38 “ drivers
-16 x 20 cylinders
-wt 93,400 lbs
#111
-Built in 1926
-40 “ drivers
-18 x 20 cylinders
-wt 102,800 lbs
I hope this helps to track #40 history.
Also, I find it interesting to note that if the CHS can get the 111 running then it would make the perfect engine to run on the Loop, maybe even better then the 40 based on this data.
