From SVRy conductor reports, not everybody got the day off:
Train 1 with eng. #1 crewed by Eng. Brown, fireman Koopman, Cond. Larson, and brakeman Lewis, Left Baker at 8:AM with mail car #4, combine #11, box #1056. The boxcar was loaded with mdse. consigined to agent at MP 60 (Batesville) and MP 80 (Prarrie).
The train departed S.Baker at 8:08 MP 1, departed McEwen at 9:08 MP 23, Sumpter at 9:38 MP 29, Larch at 10:08 MP 35, Whitney 10:38 MP43, Tipton 11:16 MP51, Austin 11:50 MP 59, and arrived at Batesville at 11:55 MP 60.
Meanwhile one of the crews based at Austin was called at 7:45AM for train 3 with eng. 50. Crew of 4 was Eng. U.S.Carpenter, Fireman Wright, Conductor Judge (a man to be remembered for less than perfect penmanship), and Brakeman Atkinson. The consist was boxcar 1057 loaded with flour and feed consigned to to OLC, boxcar 1156 same, boxcar 1062 loaded with mdse cosigned to Prarrie ? (looks like Forge, or perhaps Foundry, but pretty illegible) and caboose 5. The first 2 boxcars only went as far as Batesville (1 revenue mile). The train departed Austin at 8:05, arrived Batesville at 8:10, departed at 8:15, arrived at Dixie 8:45, departed Dixie 8:52, arrived Prarrie at 9:35 which was the end of the trip. Terminal delays listed were 20 min. at MP 59: eng. oil, pick up train and test air, delayed at MP 60: 5 min. for water and to set out 2 loads.
This crew that just handled train #3, now has train #2 for the return trip to Batesville. again with eng. 50, pulling mail car #5 and comb. #10. They departed Prarrie at 10:20, arrived at dixie 11:10, departed Dixie 11:15, arrived at Batesville 11:50. Eng. 50 appears to have ran light on to Austin for lunch and to turn.
After lunch our crew turned eng. 50 between 12:10 and 12:20 and returned to Bateville. they departed Batesville again bound for Prarrie with train #1 that had arrived from Baker before lunch, at 12:35, with mail car #4 and combine #11. They arrived at Dixie at 1:15, departed at 1:17, and arrived at Prarrie at 2:00PM.
After arrival at Prarrie our crew that started their day at Austin will return with Extra 50 east. The consist is Boxcar 1604 with msdse. consigned to agent at MP59 (Austin), empty box 1350, empty tank car 99 and caboose 5. This trip begins leaving Prarrie at 2:35, arrives at Dixie 3:20, dparts at 3:25, arrive at Austin 4:00PM tie up at 4:05 with the crew having been on duty for 8hrs. 20 min and having conquered Dixie Summit two times from each direction.
After lunch the crew that started their day at Baker will bring train 2 from Batesville east to Baker with eng. 1. The consist is mail car #5 and comb. #10. They depart Batesville at 12:30PM, Austin at 12:35, tipton at 1:11, whitney at 1:35, Larch at 2:10, aumpter at 2:35, McEwen at 2:55, S.Baker at 3:56 and arrive at Baker 4:00PM. While the conductor report doesn't state this, one might assume that they return to the S.Baker rr yard to tie up, or perhaps the shop crew took over at this point for the short run back to the S.Baker rr yard and round house.
