Responding to Herb Kelsey's comments that there was some apparent "shuffling" of water tank locations on the Ouray Branch. I am aware of tank locations only in Montrose, Cow Creek, Ridgeway, Piedmont and the stand pipe in Ouray. Cow Creek is located at milepost 371.0 which is 18 miles south of Montrose. Piedmont Tank was located at milepost 382.0 ot thereabouts. I have never seen a photo or mention of Piedmont Tank and assume it did not last long. Both tanks were gravity feed per Richardson on page 119 in Colorado Rail Annual No#11. Montrose has a stand pipe and standard guage water tanks. Ridgeway's tank is well documented. Any new imformation you can shed on this subject would be graetly appreciated.
