Sam,
I got this from the Durango Herald today....
The Teft Spur Fire burned 50 acres of rugged land for two days near the junction of Cascade Creek and the Animas River north of Durango before firefighters contained the blaze.
Elaine Simo, a public information officer for the Durango Interagency Fire Dispatch Center, said the fire was still burning Sunday night, but it was contained. Simo did not know how many firefighters responded to the fire, but Ron Klatt, the fire management officer for the San Juan National Forest’s Columbine Ranger District, said on Friday that two 20-man Hot Shot Teams were dropped in response to the blaze.
The fire had burned into the Weminuche Wilderness and neither people nor structures were in danger, Klatt said. Klatt could not be reached for comment Sunday night.
Between this one, a couple of other small ones, and the monster in Mesa Verde the fire crews have been some very busy boys in SW Colorado.
