The problem about fuel costs is not just the fuel used on the trip. I commute about 100 miles every day to work and my wife commutes about 60 miles each day as well (in the opposite direction) when gas goes up, it hits us every day and robs us of our disposable income. Thus, we are not thinking much about a vacation this summer. I have had to resort to driving a geo(~45mpg) Yeech, to work each day since my truck gets about 15 mpg. The cost of fuel shows up insidously (SP?) in every thing else we need and use each day. Anything that has to be shipped any distance at all is more expensive, the price of our propane to heat our house is almost double what it was just a year ago and so on.... I don't know just what the true impact of each 0.10$ increase in fuel is, but it is much more reaching than just the price of gas.
