After a brief diversion into standard gauge (Helium transport by rail), I thought I would post a few shots of 2 ft 6 in gauge Baldwin mikes in Patagonia in 2005.
Ingneniero Jacobacci is where the 2 ft 6 in gauge meets the 5 ft 6 in gauge. A double header is ready to depart for Esquel. At the head end of the train are two tank cars of water and a tank car of fuel oil - it is along way to Esquel, and much of the infrastructure from the regular-service days is no longer functional.
Just south of Cerro Mesa is the only tunnel on the line, followed almost immediately by a steel bridge across the river
Cerro Mesa is a water and service stop, where the engines are uncoupled and serviced separately. A unique rail bus is hiding behind the engine.
