Re: Buzzed on the D&SNG high line

In the early days of the Grand Canyon Ry., there would be all kinds of aircraft buzzing around for various promotional and news stories. On one day, after being called as engineer for the regular train to the "Canyon", I was informed that there would be a helicopter chasing us taking promotional photos and to just ignore them. They seemed to keep their distance until we got into 40 mph territory near Valle. At one point, they hovered about 4 ft over the main line, waiting until we were almost on top of them before pulling away...scared the hell out of me and my fireman.

Here is a promotional photo we did with Grand Canyon Airlines and there Ford Tri-Motor. I was the engineer on this train as well.
