Back in the early 1970s, IMAX theatres filmed a sequence that buzzed CPR ten wheeler 1057 as it headed an excursion over the Forks of the Credit trestle north of Toronto. I think the film may have been called “Summertide”???
IIR, the chopper flew right through the smoke as the engine was in the middle of the bridge. The scene was impressive on the screen, but everyone was
as to my knowledge neither the CPR or the trip organizers were aware of it in advance - and I wonder if the pilot got their knuckles rapped, or worse. This was one of the first excursions with the engine, and it sure ruined a lot of people’s photos as well.
Cheers,
Ralph
