Along with the Alcan highway, part of the effort was to construct a series of airfields to ferry American Lend-Lease aircraft to the Soviets via the "Northwest Staging Route."
Bruce (or anyone), do you know if the WP&Y served the major airbase in Whitehorse, whether for construction, fuel delivery, etc?
The aircraft included P-39s, A-20s, B-25s, and C-47s, but painted with a Soviet red star. These machines are not tanks, obviously, but the first few are indeed frontline combat equipment... with the abundance of narrow gauge and military models available in 1:48, Whitehorse '43/44 could be a neat concept for a scene...
