D&RGW 223 nailed the location on the Marysville branch. I spent my very early years in Mt. Pleasant, on the Marysville branch, and remember watching my first trains there. I even convinced my dad to chase one or two of them. We frequently drove along highway 89 to Thistle and the junction with the Soldier Summit line, and then down to Spanish Fork and Provo. This was 10-15 years before the Thistle landslide. I always watched for trains on these drives.
I don't believe the train is moving because of the man standing on the locomotive.
As stated before they are out of coal.
Interesting photo. I noticed the coach is lettered "Rio Grand Western"
